June in colour

I really enjoyed following the shutter sister colour prompts this month and I have also been doing picture black and white which again consisted of prompts, I do love them, they make you think about your photography and I find that I spend a couple of hours mulling over my shots before I decide exactly what to photograph. What about you? do you like prompts? what does July hold in store for you with your photography? I am looking for a new challenge so any suggestions gratefully received.

Rainbow

Last week my in laws were over from Sydney Australia and we took them to lunch where they had stayed the night before our wedding and where we stayed on our wedding night twenty three years ago. They hadn't been back since so it was a lovely memory for them and luckily it was the most beautiful day.  It is a wonderful hotel in Sussex - built in 1598 and converted to a hotel in 1958 -  it is surrounded by the most beautiful gardens which are in full bloom at the moment.
It is also 'rainbow' for the colour today on shutter sisters, I thought this garden fitted perfectly.

Summer colours

This purple always makes me think of Wimbledon which started yesterday

Poppies and daisies

In between bouts of rain we have wonderful sunshine at the moment and gardens are filling up with summer flowers.

Sunset on Santa Monica beach

More pictures from our recent trip. I did love Santa Monica beach, the setting had a wonderful timeless quality to it in the evening light.

Monday morning blues

Today is navy blue in the shutter sisters month of colour - once you start looking there are so many blues everywhere.

Words

These wonderful packages were in one of the hotels we stayed in recently in America. I just thought they were so great I had to photograph them, sometimes it's the really simple things that work don't you think?

Adirondacks

I can't believe how many adirondack chairs we saw in California, I wish I had a front porch or a huge garden to put some in! They seem such a comfortable way to view the world.

Yellow

Continuing the colour theme for the month on shutter sisters and today it's yellow.

Colour

I have been doing the Shutter sisters colour month for June and yesterday it was carnation pink, my peonie was perfect for the prompt.

Jubilee celebrations

It was a very soggy day yesterday but nothing could dampen that old British spirit! so many boats, so much to see, I saw some of the dragon boats that were waiting in Putney to join the parade, it was a wonderful atmosphere.

The celebrations continue and today we are having a street party, the children lined up for the best Queen competition and of course later on there is a cake competition!

Lazy days

It's a long weekend here in England - in case you haven't heard the Queen is celebrating her jubilee! I hope you have a relaxing weekend whatever you are doing.
