Macro Monday

I'm linking up to macro monday today with my shot of the only flower in my garden at the moment, a lovely hellebore. I used my 60mm F2.8 lens for this shot.

Snow!

Well it snowed in London yesterday and everything ground to a halt! it has now turned to slush and everyone is out in it playing on sledges but yesterday when it was actually snowing it was just me and the dogs and this lone runner.

On books and light

Finding things to photograph in winter is hard don't you think? inside my house the light is bad and I find I have to bump up my ISO to around 800. I am searching for interesting things to take pictures of to continue my 365 project, I am not a hoarder so don't have lots of trinkets around. I have lots of books, these are the only things I collect, I have mentioned before that I love reading and I've just started my book journal for this year where I rate each book I read and write a small synopsis about it, it's great for when people asked me if I like a book, even if I read it years ago I can revert back to my journal to find out what I thought about it. My son doesn't share my passion for books and bought a kindle yesterday........

A slow start to January

How is the first month of the new year going for you? have you worked out your word? stuck to your resolution or diet and decided how you will change the world over the next twelve months? I don't know about you but I hate the beginning of the year when all the magazines talk about is diets and resolutions and how we must all change, I refuse to play and stick to reading my wonderful pile of books I got for Christmas instead. Things are slowly returning to routine here, Alice is madly writing essays and  planning her dissertation, wondering what she is going to do with the rest of her life once she graduates in July. Harry is enjoying re connecting with all his school friends after his first six months at university, they will both head back for another term in the next couple of weeks but until then I am enjoying every moment of the mess and a full house.

Lets have a cup of tea and a chat.....

Is anyone in London? does anyone want to meet up in February for a photo walk? wouldn't that be nice to meet in person and walk around taking pictures and chatting? let me know if this idea appeals.
