November thoughts...

I have been thinking about tomorrow being the first day of November and the clocks have gone back so it is absolutely pitched dark now and it's only 6pm. I was reading an article on photography this week and it was saying how black and white lends itself perfectly to the autumn days because instead of the harsh direct summer sunshine the autumn light is soft and uniform so black and white is perfect for this light. Tomorrow I am starting a month of black and white pictures, does anyone else want to join me?

I thought I would post a last colour photograph I took today for October!

  1. This is such a great shot again! Wonderful composition! I'm so bad at b&w that I won't make it a whole month (and I think I'll need colour somehow to look at) but I will jump in once in a while for practice!

  5. Sounds like a great idea...don't know if I can find enough things with contrast that would make good B&W shots but if I come up with any I'll certainly post them. Your photos are always great. :)

  6. I've never actually tried black and white - this is a very interesting idea! Not sure I can switch entirely (since I've still got a bunch of fall photos I'm working on) but I'm going to at least give it a go.

  7. This is a beautiful shot!!

I rarely shoot/process in b&w. I might have to join you, but maybe only 1 week and see how it goes! :)

  9. I too, will increase my B&W exposure. I actually love shooting in Black and White. I always have. It is so beautiful when it is done correctly. You did an amazing job with this one. It might not be black and white, but it could have been!

  10. Hi Justine, your last 'colour' photo is very subtle and very beautiful. I have a technical problem....may be you can help How do I change the file size of a photo I have in iphoto so I can load it as a thumbnail into Sunday Creative, I am such a novice with all this tech. stuff. Cheers.

  14. Wonderful idea. I'm addicted to B&W at the moment. I'm considering joining you and wondering how I'll manage over in Australia toward the end. Maybe my 365 can all be in B&W?

  16. I think that is a great idea! I love B&W and often wonder why I don't shoot that way more than I do. Now I have a reason!

  17. This sounds like fun, I think I will join you on the b&w journey. Haven't taken too many B&W so this should be an interesting trip. Missing Picture Fall already. Are you posting your b&w on flickr, starting a group, on your blog???

  18. This is the loveliest shot of garlic cloves I've ever seen! Wonderful composition. I love b&w's, though I'm no good at taking them (everything looks bland somehow when I do b&w) - luckily, that doesn't preclude me from enjoying the b&w talents of photographers like you :)
