Life through a different lens.

We have had these binoculars for so many years, they are lovely and old and worn and come in a leather case that has mellowed with age and years of hanging off someone's shoulders. They were used a lot for horse racing a few years ago but not only tend to come out when I remember to get them to study the heron sitting in the tree or to watch the bunny rabbits eat my garden.

  1. Your binoculars remind me of ones that my grandfather used to have in his house. When we were small we used to go "fairy hunting" with them. I can still smell the leather case, so many years later! Great photo.

  5. Love them. We use them when we go to plays at the theatre. We sit in the nose bleed section and use the binoculars so that we can see the actors faces. Love the pic.

  6. What a great tribute to a much-loved item in the household. These make me think of the ones I used to see constellations better in a bright city sky. The detail is wonderful, another lovely b&w!

  12. My Dad used to have some binoculars in a leather case like yours. Black & white really suits these well - it looks like you have somewhere with lots of natural light to take your photos.

  13. My father (who is English) has pair of those exact binoculars.
I remember as a child opening the case and feeling the soft material inside.
