I have always wanted to paint but sadly my skills run to stick men only. We always have lots of art catalogues lying around and I love looking at still life paintings especially. The next theme over at the wonderful mortal muses flickr pool is 'still life' so I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to try out my version using my lens.

Beautiful shot Justine!
ReplyDeleteGreetings.
I cannot even draw a stick figure, so you are better off than I!! I like this one a lot. I am trying to think of a still life to do for a FLickr challenge I am interested in, but nothing is coming to mind. Hoping for some devine inspiration somewhere :-)
ReplyDeleteLoving that bottle!!
As always, just wonderful! I love the drapery in the background and the shadowing it creates. A really effective still life!
ReplyDeletethat is so beautiful justine....
ReplyDeleteand is that a water jug?
i've never seen a piece like that before.
it is very cool.
I agree with Simone, the sheets and shadows are great. I also think your decanter looks a pit like a duck ready to peck at the grapes, but perhaps my imagination is getting ahead of me today.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photo...go take a beginner class in painting...you already know so much more than most beginners since you understand light, depth, texture and how to set up a still life...you know all of this (you may not realize you know it) all of these elements make up a great painting...all you have to learn is the "medium" which is paint and canvas!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful still life shot. I have always wanted to paint too and draw put I am not good at it at all.
ReplyDeleteI love your still life. It would make a great painting. The water jug would be so cool to draw.
ReplyDeleteThis is very beautiful. I must attempt a still life, it will be a challenge.

Awesome still life photo, Justine. Love it!
ReplyDeleteMay I make a copy of it for possible future painting? I love how the carafe looks duck-shaped. Is it supposed to look like that or is it just my vision?
That is a beautiful still life! Wonderful balance of light and textures.
ReplyDeleteLovely - reminds me of those veritas paintings where every object has a meaning.
ReplyDeleteI can't draw either! Thank goodness for photography! lol! Lovely composition!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful composition, light and exposure. I can see that you study still lifes - it's shows through here.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you've draped the sheets and the shadows the folds create- they add depth and interest. This is beautifully composed - wonderful shot
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful composition, Justine! I couldn't paint it (stick men describes also my range of capability) but I couldn't arrange something as beautiful to photograph either!
ReplyDeleteLove the look and feel of this shot. I love how you kept the true colors and tones. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteI love the decanter... it reminds me of a little ducky ;) Another truly beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteSweetness! Thank you for the shout out!! I have no idea what to do for this. xo tam
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful. I love the tones, light and the texture of the backdrop was so well thought out.
ReplyDeleteI like this set up and you know we love the shout out - I've gotta start thinking about my own still life. Although it's my preference in shooting, I've really got to think through this one.
ReplyDeleteJustine - you blow me away. What a gorgeous photo.
ReplyDeleteNow I want to get out my charcoals and do it in black and white! so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI'm useless at painting! Thanks goodness for cameras... this is lovely Justine, beautiful tones and composition.
