As part of the course I am doing
Xanthe and Kim suggested going on a photo walk so I thought I would show you parts of where I live in South London. Here is the market, this takes place every day, you could be anywhere in the world when you visit, all nationalities are represented, it is a very old and established market but I got told off by a stallholder for taking pictures this morning so didn't stay long.
This cow stands outside the local butcher complete with the British flag. You can also see the friendly British postman in the picture too!
This fence always looks so pretty
Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing hometown street scenes,
especially outdoor markets.
What a fun-filled colorful market. Especially love the last image - of the multi-colored fence. Terrific!
ReplyDeleteLove marketplace photos, Justine however you might get a better reception if you do what I always do when photographing in a public place which is to get one or two people there involved by telling them you are a photographer and you will be doing a mini-documentary for a blog and ask if you may include them. I always give them my business card and tell them to go to my blogspot in a few days and look for the piece and I tell them the title will be. I did one recently on an auction that I pretty regularly attend and it went over nicely. No one cared I was around with camera in hand and after I started bidding I even forgot I had my camera with me....LOL Shame on that person for telling you to move on. I wouldn't buy anything from them "ever."
ReplyDeleteHi Justine love your photo walk some people are really grumpy aren't they ? I always worry about photo taking in the street. I think what Carol said is a good idea altho some people just don't get it . Any way enough about that, the cow is great I bet it's a real traditional butcher as well does it have sawdust on the floor ? All the old butcher's shops used to do that probably not allowed now lol.
ReplyDeleteGreat street shots! And what a miserable stall holder for being rude to you!
ReplyDeleteGreat street shots!Love the butcher's cow! And shame on the street trader for being so miserable!
ReplyDeletehello lovely.... your site is looking awesome....and your photo walk... oh my... wonderful street shots... LOVE.
ReplyDeletexo, Kim
p.s. love that cow..... :)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! I love seeing your neighborhood!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo walk! I think I saw that cow last summer when I was there. I love the postman! So fun to see your neighborhood!
ReplyDeleteOh, I like your neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteJustine, I love your marketplace photos! My husband and I are planning a trip to London, most likely next spring. Funny, but I had a similar experience taking photos in a street market in Boston last year. I don't understand why people wouldn't want their business photographed since it's free advertisement for them! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLove your photowalk pictures, the cow and the marketplace looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your visit and kind words on my blog!
See you in class.
Marie
Sorry you got fussed at for taking pictures. Love all the colors in that fence. A lovely series.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images !! Love that fence and of course the cow looks very British. What a grumpy stall holder, you would think they would be happy with some promotion, after all the produce looks so fresh and delicious. Don't let one negative type put you off. xx
ReplyDeleteDon't you just hate crabby people? Well everyone loves your photography!

I just hate that you had trouble taking pictures. I love taking pictures like, everyday life at it's best.
ReplyDeleteThe first time this happened to me (getting yelled at), I was reduced to tears literally right then and there.
ReplyDeleteIt's happened a few times since then, and each time it has gotten less bothersome. I am sorry this happened to you.
I just love this fence. Wonderful colors and a great angle!
Great idea, I love these shots.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Justine! I love seeing more where you live. Don't you just love the markets? I am truly enjoying living somewhere now that has a market everyday!
ReplyDeleteYour neighborhood is lovely!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love this!! I so wish I lived in an area with a little more "culture". I often think I'd love to go on a photography walk, but all that's near me is fields. I love the peacefulness of this area, but I have to travel a bit for many photo ops.
