A few months ago I planted what I thought was white cosmos but now the flowers have come out I don't think they actually are cosmos but I can't remember their name, anyway, they are very pretty and perfect for photographing. I photographed them with my new lens which is very exciting - I upgraded from the 50mm F1.8 to the 50mm F1.4 and what a difference! not only does it have a focus ring so you aren't moving backwards and forwards quite so much but also it is so much sharper. I decided to do an overhaul of my lenses and have sold my 100mm F2.8 macro lens online, it has always been my least used lens, I find it so heavy without a tripod and I can't keep still enough so it has gone to a new home. I do now have my old 50mm 1.8 sitting on the shelf if anyone is interested and wants it, just send me an email.

It's a great lens isn't it? Your photo is absolutely stunning. Do you have a proper set up with lights and white background etc? It looks so beautifully composed and the white background shows the soft shadows up really well.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen this flower before, does it have thorns? Beautiful capture!
ReplyDeleteYou have the lens that is on my wish list, I will be watching to see what you are doing with it.
Justine, if I am not mistaken it is Loves in a Mist. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteSo simple yet so beautiful. Great shot, Justine..........:)
ReplyDeleteI have the 1.8 - didn't know there was a 1.4! Perhaps you could show identical shots using both lens so I can see the difference, or is the difference only in the focusing? Love the shot btw!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I don't know the flower though. The 100mm f2.8 is a lens I have been wanting. So sad that it didn't work out for you. I still have my 50mm f1.8 and didn't think f1.4 would make a huge difference. I'm currently looking at some wide angle lenses like the 16-32 and man are they expensive!
ReplyDeleteYou're right, really nice detail - and a pretty flower to boot.
ReplyDeleteLovely shot Justine :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning...I want to reach out and touch it. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a great, clear, simple shot - lovely! I've never seen a flower like that.
ReplyDeleteI'm following you over from the August Break Flickr group. I'm Marie from Ontario, Canada and I'm now following your blog! Looking forward to seeing more of your pictures. :-)

Such delicate beauty.
ReplyDeleteOh don't tempt me with another lense that I MUST have :)
ReplyDeleteI also think it's Love ni a Mist, very pretty. The 50mm 1.4 is great, I love using mine too.
ReplyDeleteThey're love in a mist, you usually get them in blue, white is very rare. Beautiful aren't they? xxx
