Autumn in London

Last week a friend of mine came to visit from Sydney and I took her on my mini tour of London, this also coincided with her new found love of instagram so we spent the morning looking for red phone boxes and red London buses and British flags! Continuing the British theme, I decided to end my tour with one of my favourite places, Kensington Palace Gardens. I remember visiting the Palace just after Diana had died and the gates were completely adorned with flowers as was the entire pathway. Even though it is pretty grey and miserable in London as winter approaches, taking someone on a tour of your city and seeing it through their eyes really makes you really appreciate it don't you think?

  5. I thought that was what this was when you showed a picture of it but was unsure to say. Lovely grounds and how lucky you are to be able to walk through these gardens. Fall looks beautiful there. I remember when I lived in California and family members would come to town and taking them for the first time to show them San Francisco. They were always in awe to all the sights a very nice feeling to share where you live.

  6. It is always nice to have a friend visit and be able to share the beauty of where you live with your friend. We had a grey day yesterday too. The sun came out just in time to set giving the promise of a wonderful day tomorrow. Lo and behold, the sun is shining today and though a bit chilly, I'll take this weather any day of the week. :) Have a wonderful day!

  7. Beautiful shot, Justine. So true that visiting our own cities through fresh eyes makes us realize the things we take for granted. You live in a pretty incredible place in the world, being in London. Yet, if you are like me in my city, I tend to only go to certain places and I tend to not expand my exploration much. So, I guess I need to have more visitors!!

  8. I can only imagine what a tour of London would be like! Touring my own little rural town doesn't offer many photos of beauty!

  9. OOooooo! A tour of London sounds spectacularly fun! It might seem odd to you Brits but, to me - American girl that I am - those red phone boxes, double-decker buses and your beautiful flag carry quite a mystique. Your friend must have felt like she found treasure every time! ...but, mostly... how fun to toodle around with a friend all day! =]

    xxoo

You don't have your bulbs in either?! Hmmmm.... what are we going to do? Personally, I look outside and it's blustering and I'm already cold on the inside look out the window... it's a dilemma! =/

  11. Beautiful colours, great composition. Always great to have an 'alternative view' either through a camera or on a controversial issue. xx

  15. I think letting someone else become entranced with "your" stomping grounds is great inspiration. This reminds me a bit of Philadelphia. I'm glad I'm catching you on Flickr as I've been so absent here in blogger land. BTW, I am not doing soley BW, but I'm trying to add it in more regularly. You've been turning out some wonderful BWs. Happy day Justine.
