I have just spent the last three days on a wonderful travel photography course and one of the things I learnt is that it really is possible to be a traveller in your own town. We took a trip to Chinatown in Soho where it is soon to be Chinese New Year, everything was alive with colour and noise and bustle. Do you like to travel within your own city?
Looking up or down there were lanterns everywhere
A lady making dumplings through a shop window
Two worlds collide - China and London
Lovely bright colours everywhere. I hope you feel a bit inspired to explore your hometown too.

  1. These are great Justine, it is wonderful being a tourist in your own city & nothing like a course to get you inspired :)
My suburb is big on Chinese new year, so I'll try to get some shots of lanterns & dragons on the weekend.

  3. Great idea to look at it that way and travel in your own neighborhood. If it wasn't for the sign I wouldn't have known it wasn't China. But you had fun in the class.

  6. What a fun outing, Justine! So many wonderful colors and shares in your images. I've been having so much fun exploring my new town, and hopping over the bay to wander through San Francisco. I feel so lucky!
    Have a lovely weekend!

  7. I wonder how I'd get that mindset. It might be helpful. I believe there is so much we miss day to day....and walk past. Just like that pile of papers I should put away, but not longer see. Love your scenes, especially the shot of the woman.

  11. I would love it in a real city, but my dinky little spot in the road doesn't offer much. ;-)

  12. Love the composition and gorgeous bright colour in these. The dumpling lady's expression is interesting...can't tell if she is looking bored, resigned or off in her own world in a daydream. What an exciting and colourful area you live in. xx
