Summer in the City

It is so unbelievably hot in London at the moment, we are in the middle of a very rare heatwave. Sleepless nights and bbq dinners seem to be the order of the day, everyone is feeling sleepy and lethargic.

What I love about this time of year is that everyone is home, happy to sit in the garden and chat in the sunshine, no one seems to be in a rush, I love these lazy summer days, what about you? how are you enjoying the summer?

  1. oh summer....it has arrived in Germany too. But with summer also arrives the biting flies....I live out in the country ....so you enjoy the peace and quiet BUT all the flies until all the crops around here are harvested,,,then they leave,,,almost over nite. I love the first shot...a super pose.

  2. Hello Justine, it is really hot here in Maine, USA too. We have biting flies too. If I could only have it hot and no bugs I'd be in heaven. That is why winter is my favorite season; warm clothes, fire, hot drinks, and best of all no bugs. To keep cool we eat lots of ice cream and have iced tea. The air conditioners are keeping it around 75 unless you stand right in front of one, then you need to put on long sleeves. LOL A never ending story, isn't it? Wishing you a beautiful day.

  3. I do not mind the sunshine but the heat really needs to go. Now if I had a garden I may feel different about this. But for now I am ready for a rainy day. Sad but true. Spent a fantastic sunshine filled weekend in Dorset. But it was too hot in the afternoon. Wonderful images.

  4. I love the slower pace of summer holidays too, our winter weather is ok at the moment although rain & cold forecast for the weekend.
Love these photos, looks very summery.

  5. What a lovely garden space you have! We are hot too but can get to the beach which is only 4 miles away, but so many people go that it is difficult to park!

  6. Well, the heat does slow us down, doesn't it? We've been having a cold spell -- fog not breaking for several days -- such is the bay area summer. Your garden looks very inviting!

  7. I don't do well with humid heat, just makes me wilt. Thankfully here the summer has been less hot than last year. Heading on vacation at the end of the week, so hoping for cooler temperatures.

  8. I just love both these photos! I don't do well in very high heat and humidity but I still prefer summer to winter. We're actually having a mild summer ... by our standards. Hang in there, Justine ... fall will be here in a few weeks.

  10. Right there with you on the hot....but not complaining. Even tho it's uncomfortable, I bitched all thru winter. I love your faceless portrait and that garden spot looks like a great place to relax. Me? I've been working-yuck-but after dinner taking my book, driving to the beach, and sitting on the beach wall for a 45 min read with light winds and late day light. It helps.
Happy day my friend. I'm not blogging much, but glad to stay connected some on Flickr.
