Frangipani and sea shells

I am now the proud owner of a frangipani tree in my back garden. I have been watching it since we moved in in August when it was completely bare and finally it has flowered.

The flowers seem to only last one day and then drop onto the grass so I lovingly scoop them up and I have been placing them in my bowl of sea shells and I can't stop picking them up to smell that amazing perfume.

I am also continuing to do my course with blogging your way and for the last week it has been all about styling your photographs. I had no idea how much was involved including the need to place everything in threes or fives, the picture below shows my styled attempt for three items and the rules apply to food and interior styling.

Our homework last week was to make a styling board on Pinterest - how do you all feel about pinterest? how do you get followers? I feel a bit lost on pinterest like I did on twitter....

  4. Gorgeous images...so fresh and pure and clean looking. I had a fresh Frangipani head garland when I got married, such a hippy thing, but I loved it. I absolutely love Pinterest ! I went in to it not wanting followers, or at least not caring about that part of it, for me that's not what its about. I saw it and still view it as my "personal pin up board", just like you would have in your kitchen or study, except its part of your blog....people can choose to look at it or not, follow it or not. For me it's a really convenient place that I can just store and have at hand every thing that inspires me ( I don't care if it inspires any one else or not, that's not what its about ) I visit other Pinterest boards, which lead me onto another and another and I just take what inspires me and add to my Pinterest. When ever I'm at a low point, lacking motivation or inspiration I visit my Pinterest and always come away with new ideas. I don't find it a chore, it's not something you have to work at...it's fun. It can be a bit of a time waster tho, I sometimes realise I have been looking at boards for hours lol. xx

  5. Such a treat, and you have displaced them beautifully. Now you need to string them together and make a lei or if you don't have enough make a bracelet. :) Beautiful photography

  6. So lovely Justine, you are stylin'! Those petals are exquisite, I've never seen these before and they go so nicely with those shells. As far as Pinterest goes, I do have an account and started some boards a long time ago but haven't done anything with it lately. It is fun to browse though and you can find some excellent ideas and recipes.

  7. Beautiful styling, beautiful photos! We used to call frangipani plumeria back in Hawaii. They grew everywhere and smelled heavenly. I loved collecting seashells back then too. Thank you for lovely childhood memories!

  11. I like Pinterest, the visual stimulation is wonderful. Sometimes though I pin stuff and never look at it again. Many times though, just getting on and looking around will stir up creativity.

  12. Justine, the little flowers look so pretty in the bowl with the shells. They also look so soft and creamy tot the touch. Do they have a fragrance?

  13. Sorry, I mean, can you relate the fragrance to something we can relate to?

  14. What a beautiful flower, captured so expertly! I love the word frangipani, it just rolls off the tongue. I like pinterest for pinning house and decorating ideas, gardening etc. I don't use it for my photos -- I think it would put me on overload.

  15. WOW!! I just love these photos. The composition is fabulous my friend. They definitely could be made into beautiful cards. I am addicted to pinterest. I just love to stroll through all the inspirational photos there. I think the more you pin the more follower you get.. That's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

    Hugs~

  17. I love frangipani - l feel I can almost smell them! I love how your arranged them with the shells, Justine!
As to Pinterest - at the moment I'm there quite often, but it's always a question of time for me. I love the inspiration there. As to getting followers there, I'm afraid I'm not very helpful - I have no idea; but then it's really not my intention to get followers.

  18. Frangipani always remind me of the "other" bit of Australia. The place you travel to and feel hot and sticky and the smell which is intoxicating, especially at night. Lovely, lovely photos too Justine!

  19. Hi Justine: I just saw your "thanks" on the BYW Homework board!
Your photos are just lovely…really really nice. I am slowly learning… I've been blogging for years and photos have always been a part of it, but lately they have become so much more important for me, and for my readers. I'm going to add you to my list of people I've met in the course and will stay in touch! Really lovely, and I'll go and look around at your bio etc.!
