Scenes from London

This fellow didn't catch me taking his picture, it's easy when they are asleep!

  1. Nice shot. I can't do street photography either unless it is unsuspecting. I am not one of those people that can go up to others and ask.

  2. Such a sad scene, possibly a street person. As Jesus said, "the poor are with you always." I remember a trip I took to Philadelphia, PA and walked to the Museum of Fine Arts passed a park with lots of statues and every park bench was covered with the body of a homeless person sleeping. Some were even bathing in the fountains. It felt like I was in a scene from one of those end of the world movies. This is a photo that stirs much emotion.

  3. I agree...it's hard to take street photography...up here in Mammoth I feel like a tourist...and then of course it's such a small town that I'd eventually be known as a photographer geek or some such thing!!! One of these days I'm going to embark on the 100 stranger project..I understand that doing this really helps you get over those feelings!!!

  6. Interesting photo. I love how 'people' photos make you go deeper, they automatically make you think...you need a story to go with the image, so you start to make one up. I can see it happening, you are getting into the London "vibe". Love the single random shoe and the wreath, so much going on here.....great shot.

  8. Very poignant! I know what you mean about taking photographs of complete strangers, it feels so voyeristic, yet it really highlights that everyone has a story to tell. As my girls would say "Keep up your stalking of randoms". It should be a new challenge for us all!! Not easy..but very rewarding!!

  11. Great black and white street scene - I like the way all the detail is on one side of the image whilst the other side is quite plain. It's also social commentary - he's reached the bottom of the pile, sitting there on the bottom step with the wreath beside him. I'm intrigued about the spare shoe. Maybe it's just that - a spare for when one of the others gives up the ghost. I would have thought there would be a market for this photograph but I haven't the knowledge to know where.
