I love breakfast and find that at this time of year as it starts to get colder my options turn to lovely big bowls of porridge but sadly others in the house don't feel the same way, their comfort food needs to be crunchy and full of sugar. I decided this year to make my own granola as the stuff in the shops is so manufactured and full of rubbish. I have made a batch from one of my favourite cookery writers, Jill Dupleix, and the other one from Gordon Ramsay. What about you? what is your comfort food for winter breakfasts?

I make my own muesli in summer, and like you, love porridge in the winter. Although my days of slathering it with golden syrup are over. Today I decanted my packets into Kilner jars, to make a nice display - spooky!
ReplyDeleteThese look great, I should do that but I confess to the crunchy & sugary.
ReplyDeleteGreat composition - love looking at it! I'm mostly into weetabix with some fruit and pouring yoghurt!

ReplyDeleteThis looks wonderful. Much healthier for you than the store-bought "rubbish". Love that word. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo, looks enticing and I love the shipping tags on the lids. My comfort food would have to be crumpets. Love them with honey or jam or plain old Vegemite. I'm with you on the muesli, home made is definitely better. I don't like the sugar or honey coated and baked variety, I think this is then what is called" granola". Loved your pics. from France too. Looked like a wonderful place to stay, lucky you. xx
ReplyDeleteI like the shot of the jars and cups, cute cups by the way. I am a Oatmeal Gal, actually I eat Steel Cut every morning with a banana. I never get tired of it.
ReplyDeletea steaming cuppa hot tea.

I have to say I am really not a breakfast type of gal. Just give me my cup of coffee and I am a happy camper.
ReplyDeleteHugs~
