Snake's head fritillary

Don't you just love that name for a plant? I think these are one of my favourite flowers, so delicate yet the name and the pattern don't seem to fit with the amazing beauty. I bought these the other day and intend to plant them in the garden and hope their dainty stems survive the onslaught of cats, foxes and pigeons that seem to also enjoy my garden.

  2. Beautiful flowers. Not such a fan of the name. I hate snakes.

  3. Not familiar with this flower.
Except for its beautiful colors, I see why it's called 'snake's head.'
    Thanks for sharing.
