Fleeting visits

My son Harry was here last week for a fleeting visit. It was so lovely to fuss and mother him again, I didn't mind that he left food everywhere and didn't make his bed or hang up his wet towels, I loved every moment of it and my heart is aching now that he has gone back to start a new term at university.

  1. looks like there was some good weather to be enjoyed! We've just had a good week in NW Scotland - if it rains there it's not much of a holiday if you want to walk!

  3. I can totally relate...oh how I would love one more moment with my children when they were little or one more minute when they were kids and dashing off to their next adventure or one more hour/day when they come home to visit. Time goes too fast especially when there are hours of travel time between you and your kids.

  4. I had similar experiences when my daughter would come home from college. I was (mostly) okay while she was away...but when she'd leave after a visit, I cried every time. I'd have to get used to missing her all over again. I'm glad you had a good visit...and some good weather, too.

  5. We overlook so many things as mothers because we love our children.

  6. I get this... I am okay with my son's messes too. It is just grand having them in the house, their laughter and voices. So good.

  7. I know how hard this is, don't you just wish they were little again even with the mess but they were there to see everyday. I don't think that feeling ever subsides even with a son that is 41 years old. Glad you had a brief visit with him and it is always hard when you are the one that is left behind after a visit. Have a wonderful day Justine.
