Summer on film

I hope you had a lovely Christmas and new year and that January is treating you well. It's summer here, lazy days, lots of book reading - I highly recommend "a gentleman in Moscow" by Amor Towles, a truly wonderful read. I have been busy with film again and spent a happy few days taking pictures and thought I would share them with you. What do you have planned for 2018 with your photography? I am looking for inspiration so please do share any projects.

January was....

 A month of no meat. I highly recommend it to anyone to try, we still ate fish, lots of fish, and enjoyed some amazing vegetarian dishes. I really enjoyed cooking different things and experimenting and we both felt so much better for it. My new favourite salad is watermelon, feta, olives and red onion salad.

a month of summer fruit is hard to beat, especially delicious cherries now in season.

 a month of fitness, lots of walks including the beautiful Spit Bridge to Manly walk that takes about two and a half hours and gives you the most fantastic views.

a month of catchups with friends

a month of flowers, I so love flowers in the house and have been getting them once a week now

Time for a bit of film

I am enjoying getting back into using film lately. I just got a role developed and I had forgotten how much I enjoy the anticipation of seeing if the pictures came out and I love the fact that you can tell they are film and straight out of the camera. What about you? have you ever thought of using film? I used the same vase of poppies and as you can see from my previous post, digital versus film is so very different.

My week

Last week was all about love and laughter and quality time as my lovely daughter Alice came to stay and we spent the most wonderful time together.

Summer

It feels good to be warm, summer is really here with trips to the beach, bougainvillaea everywhere and splashes of colour to brighten the days.

The weekend ahead

We are having a quiet weekend this weekend, no plans apart from going for a run, reading, doing a bit of cooking and gardening, what about you?

Hello sunshine

I was feeling a bit fed up this morning, missing the children and worrying about the future I have no control over and then I went for a walk along the beach and mother nature gave me a stern talking to and now all is right with the world.

More lemons

I have been busy trying out various recipes for lemon curd with the abundance of lemons I now have in my garden. I have made two different batches, both full of sugar but you only need a little amount spread on toast and everything in moderation I say. I got these teeny tiny little jars in the local shop and they look so cute. Does anyone have any recipes for lemon marmalade or lemon pickle?

A weekend in the country

We just spent a most wonderful weekend in the countryside where my parents live, it was a weekend of food and flowers. My parents grow their own vegetables and have the most wonderful garden, it was a visual feast and here are just a few shots with many more to come!

A week in the Blue Mountains

It was our twenty fifth wedding anniversary this week and we decided to celebrate in the Blue Mountains. It is winter here and the mountains were cold but beautiful and they really are blue. It is a lovely place to visit, lots of bush walks and amazing views.

Vaucluse House

I have been trying to get out and about to explore the area I live in here in Sydney and one of the amazing houses I live down the road from is Vaucluse House. This house was bought by the explore, barrister and politician Charles Wentworth in 1827. It became a museum in 1915 and is open to the public at weekends. I loved the colourful history of its owner and the beautiful kitchen which is kept true to fact. I won't bore you with all the history but if you ever happen to be in Sydney do come and visit!

Wednesday afternoon

I saw this man lying on the boardwalk today, I had a sudden urge just to lie down next to him but then decided it would have been rather a silly idea so I took his picture instead.
